What is it?
Individual Placement and Support or IPS is an approach that is used to help people with severe and enduring Mental Health Illness, get into and then to stay in work.
This is not an easy task. A study posted by IPS Grow suggests that only 7% of people with severe and enduring mental health illnesses are in work.
IPS is a proven approach to help increase that 7%, and what’s more it works.
When compared to other Vocational Rehabilitation approaches 62% of IPS Clients got a job against 25%.
IPS also helped people work more hours with 66% working more than 20 hours and only 14% in other approaches.
It’s quicker too with it taking on average 145 days to get a job with IPS and 214 days with other approaches.
How does it work?
IPS works on 8 basic principles, all designed to help you in the most effective way
Money
- Competitive Employment Only. No Placements, Volunteering or getting ready to work.
- Benefits Counselling. No one will be worse off by working.
Choice
- Your Job Preferences. We find out what you want to do and help you do that. No pressure to do something else.
- Employer Engagement. We work with employers you want to work for, not just those who have jobs available at the time
Time
- It Works Quickly. Within 4 weeks we will help you look for work.
- It's Time Unlimited. Even when you're in work we are with you as long as you need us.
Support
- Only if YOU Want to Work. If you want to work we will help, regardless of issues or barriers.
- We Work With Clinical Teams. Working together with your support network means we can help you in a safe way.
