FEAT's Journey to Work programme helps people within Fife who are struggling with a mental health difficulty to move back towards work. Journey to Work consists of a comprehensive range of support measures in order to meet the needs of the individual and consists of 4 broad areas:
A 8 week course, running for 2 hours a week, which teaches participants the basics of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). This includes helping participants gain an understanding of how their mood affects them as well as exploring a range of strategies which may help manage their mental health.
A course that focuses more on the future and your goals, STARS runs for 2 hours a week for 4 weeks and is interested in exploring your personal strengths and values. Participants are encouraged to consider ways in which they may be under using their strengths and values and identity where they may be able to apply them in relation to their goals.
One-to-one support with a key worker who regularly meets with you to discuss your goals, plans and helps with any other areas that may need addressed in order to move back towards work. This may include helping you gain support from other partner organisations.
These one-off courses are delivered once a month for 2 hours. Within the CV workshop we discuss what makes a good CV and covering letter. During the interview workshop we discuss anxieties around interviews, how we might manage them and how to prepare for an interview. In disclosure workshops we explore the pros and cons of telling employers about your mental health.
Previous clients have taken a lot from the Journey to Work programme and the benefits really are dependent upon what you want to get from it. Some benefits that other clients have found include:
Our Journey to Work programme is flexible and suits your level of commitment and current circumstances. The courses run throughout the year and each course consists of a weekly group meeting of up to 2 hours once a week. All group meetings take place at our main offices at Hanover Court, Glenrothes. One-to-one keywork support is arranged at a time that best suits you and your FEAT keyworker, meaning it's very flexible to suit your needs.
